Forefront’s 2020 release vastly increases the ways that districts can customize the platform to match their needs.
Forefront reporting allows districts to view data disaggregated by a variety of demographics. Although demographic information is not required in the rostering process and not necessary for most of the functionality of the platform, we encourage all of our clients to include demographics in order to maximize the functionality of Forefront.
Configuration: Forefront support needs to set your account up for the demographics that you plan to upload into the system.
Customization: If the off-the-shelf demographic categories and related terminology we provide are not the ones you use, let us know. We can create categories for you, and label things the way you want.
Note: Forefront 2020 does not support the use of economic (free and reduced lunch) or special education status data (504, TAG, etc).
Every user in Forefront has a role or multiple roles. Standard roles are described here. But if you have an unusual situation like a teacher who has a classroom is also responsible for uploading rosters we can mix and match functionality and privileges to make sure that everyone can do what they need to and see only what they need to.
Configuration: Upload all users with the appropriate roles.
Customization: Let us know if you need something special.
A course in Forefront is defined by the assessments of that course. The collection(s) of assessments that are in a course we call “Programs.”
For example, if you have a set of curricular materials that come with assessments, Forefront would be configured for those assessments and that set of assessments make up the Program.
Programs are organized into Parts. The most typical Part is a unit or module. Given that these subgroups of programs are all called different things in different programs Forefront can be customized to use the correct language.
Some concrete examples of Programs and Parts
Program: Bridges in Math Parts: Units 1- 8
Program: Writing Worlds Parts: essay writing, reflection, editing and revising, voice
Program: Science Explorer 6-8 Parts: Geology, Cells. Energy, Growth and Change
Forefront will work with you to ensure that the programs and parts that you use are loaded, labeled, and configured properly.
Ordering the Parts: We know that the parts of a program sometimes don’t always come in the same order. Parts can be arranged and rearranged.
Yes, a Course can have multiple Programs.
Configuration: Forefront Support will work with you to ensure that you have access to the programs that you need. Forefront has been configured for a limited set of programs. If we have something ready for you off-the-shelf we are happy to set that up for you. Districts will need to configure Forefront to be ready for assessments not already set up. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for questions related to creating assessments and configuring Programs.
Customization: Choose your terminology, choose your order, mix and match programs to create the courses that you use.
Standards & Curriculum
Forefront can be configured for any system of standards or curriculum from math to dance to auto mechanics. All we need is some description of the learning targets for that course.
If you need a Program which is already loaded into Forefront to be aligned with a set of standards that we don’t yet have loaded, Forefront will work with you to get that done.
Assessments in Forefront must be aligned with one or more learning objectives (standards).
Configuration: When Forefront initially creates your district we will assign standards systems at that time.
Customization: If we do not have what you need, we will work with you. Contact us at email@example.com
Terminology Related to Progress and Performance
Some say mastery, others say proficient, some say approaching others say basic. What is the terminology related to progress in your district? Forefront can be configured to match the language you use on your standards-based report cards.
Forefront supports up to 5 performance levels.
Configuration: Default levels are labeled: Advanced, Proficient, Basic, Below Basic, Well Below Basic
Customization: Let us know the terms you would like to use and we will get this set up for you. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
