Forefront assigns performance levels to each question of each assessment in addition to overall performance levels for an assessment.
At the item level, Forefront displays student performance on Bridges assessments standard by standard according to the standards alignment for each task.
For example, in the image below you can see two questions: 1a-c, and 2a-c.
Question 1a-c has possible point values of 0 - 4. These points are in turn mapped to 4 different performance levels. A score of zero points is mapped to performance level 0 (Red), 1 point maps to Performance Level 1 (Yellow), 2 points indicates Level 2 (Yellow), and 3 or 4 points maps to Level 3 (Green).
Question 2a - c has possible scores of 0-8, and therefore the performance bands have been adjusted accordingly, so Level 3 (Green) is aligned with 6 -8 points for this question.
Overall Performance Levels for Whole Assessments
Forefront also aligns performance levels for overall performance for each assessment. These performance levels match those listed in the Bridges scoring guides.
For example, the 5th grade Unit 2 post assessment Bridges Scoring Guide provides the following:
This appears in Forefront like this:
Forefront aligns Bridges assessments with 4 performance levels. Forefront displays these levels by default as follows:
- Level 3: Proficient (Green)
- Level 2: Basic (Yellow)
- Level 1: Below basic (Orange)
- Level 0: Well below basic (Red)
Terminology for performance levels, as it appears to users, can be changed to match district terminology. For example, if your district stays "Approaching Standard" as is listed in the Bridges Scoring Guide, instead of "Basic" that can be adjusted so that your teachers see approaching standard rather than basic throughout the site. District leaders should contact email@example.com and we can support you with making that change for your district.
Note: Regarding Advanced Performance
Although Forefront is capable of reporting also at a Level 4: Advanced, the Bridges assessments were designed to only assess to a level 3: Proficient level. Districts who are interested in configuring Forefront for district created supplemental assessments that elicit evidence of advanced proficiency are encouraged to contact us so that we can support you in all phases of that process.
